Our Local FIRM is a not-for-profit initiative to promote interaction between local business people in the Maroondah and surrounding areas with an emphasis on:

  • Fun
  • Information
  • Referrals and
  • Mateship

In February 2007, a few local business people met to catch up for lunch and decided that they would like to do this monthly to keep in touch and invite a few others along.  Now there are quite a few more at the lunches coming from a broad range of businesses.

Our Local FIRM is designed to provide an informal setting where local business people can learn about each others' businesses and matters of common interest, develop relationships and enjoy a little time out from the day to day demands of running a business.  The format is simple & informal.

The factors that set this business network apart from other networks / chambers of commerce, etc are:

  • The informality and friendliness of the group
  • A clear understanding that business people need support and friendship from others who may be experiencing similar day-to-day issues in the running of local business
  • The sincerity and integrity from which it is conducted, with mutual benefit as a primary goal
  • The emphasis on "fun" , "information" and "mateship" which has led to a harmonious group where newcomers feel very welcome
  • A high quality list of guest speakers, selected for their expertise and relevance to the issues being faced by members of the group
  • Very little emphasis on 'selling', marketing and pressure to perform as part of the network - in fact the referral aspect of the group is handled in a very professional manner as it is not the main goal.

Our Local FIRM meets monthly for lunch from 12.00 noon to 2.00 pm (on a Tuesday) from February to November at the Dorset Gardens Hotel in Dorset Road, Croydon.

The cost for each lunch is $25 payable directly to the Dorset Gardens Hotel.

Lunch dates for the second half of 2010 can be accessed here.

Enquiries can be made to Peter Maguire on 0438 533 311.
